About Mike
I’ve lived in Frederick County for 30 years where I’ve raised a family, worked, owned businesses, served the local, state and federal governments and led our Chamber of Commerce. Over the years I have had the privilege of serving on community boards from Non-profits to Shenandoah University’s School of Business. My family and I have experienced all this community has had to offer and it’s important to me to see my grandchildren see the same quality of life.
When I think about the last few decades my kids grew up attending the Frederick County Fair and entering everything they could into the competitions, they grew up participating in many of the non-profit activities from the Boys and Girls Club Bike Rides to Greenwood Fire Station’s many events. They learned what we already knew, being part of and active in the community provides amazing rewards.
As a family, we hosted Winchester Royals baseball players, participated in the Relay for Life, pancake days to numerous to count and of course Apple Blossom. Now I am watching my grandsons play soccer in the Frederick County Parks and Rec league and going to eat lunch with one of them at their school. Life has gone full circle and now I feel compelled to serve to ensure my grandsons and their friends have that same quality of life my own kids did.
Below is a small snapshot of my community and life service, being engaged for over 3 decades I have learned a great deal about the needs and challenges of our area, and I am ready to serve Frederick County in a whole new way.

Platform
Let’s dive right into reality, Common Sense and a Proactive Approach are required to address the main issues this community faces. We are and have been the fastest growing area in the State of Virginia for a while, the congested roads and schools validate and emphasize that fact.
People that live in a community expect services and companies move into a community because they perceive it to be business friendly and have the type of environment that is welcoming to their employees.
We all know we have growth issues, and the question is WHAT are we going to do about it? The growth is here, zoning was already approved many years ago and developments are being built. The Board must now address HOW to build schools, fire departments, roads and provide adequate staffing in all departments to meet the growing demands.
I get it, not everyone cares about every issue and some items are not important to you personally, but all the main issues impact us all eventually. We all hope that when or IF we need Fire and Rescue or the Sheriff’s they can come when we call for ourselves or our neighbor. None of us want to sit in traffic trying to get to the store or home from work. We don’t want high crime or drugs to invade our community. Items can get selective after that but in the end if you live here, we are all in this together.
The main issues as I see them
- Attracting New Businesses to the County and keeping the ones we have
- Funding School Growth
- Ensuring Public Safety and First Responders are properly staffed to meet the growing population
- Plan to alleviate congestion and address traffic flow across the County
On every issue we must be PROACTIVE, plan, execute and communicate to the public why we are making the decisions we are making.
